Gather yourself, let’s go to Mizpah!

Dear Saints of the Living God,  Grace and Mercy to you and your family.

1 Samuel 7:10 says,

“ … as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the Lord thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day..”

The background of the above verse is that, the children of Israel were mediocre in their worship and in the name of adopting to the culture, they were worshipping the foreign gods,  and they were separating further and further with their actions from the Lord, and they lost the power to fight their enemies.  You will see the prophet Samuel warning about this in verse 3… and then he brings the children of Israel to Mizpah and makes an offering…

As the offering was made, immediately, the Lord reacts to their challenges, and rescues them by sending the thunder into the philistines camp.   Even the one right decision that we make in Honoring the Lord will change the atmosphere instantaneously!   The Lord is looking for the relationship with Him restored.

Have you ever felt, the things that were coming easily to us becomes hard or harder – then look for areas in your life where you are not honoring the heavenly father.   It is not about giving 10% of your salary or serving the homeless or going to the prison – which are all needed and good, but what He is looking for is the bride, getting ready every day to eagerly looking for the lover…

We read in the book of judges, that Gideon won the battle with handful of people… but before He did any business with Gideon,  the Lord asked Gideon to build an altar… the same way, it is not the burning of the suckling lamb that prophet Samuel offered, that rescued the Israelites from their hardship… but the fact that they all showed up in Mizpah to Honor the Lord, their God… that’s what pleased the heavenly father.   God has never been in favor of the burnt offerings, but instead He wants us to give Him our very best, our first fruits – every action that we take, is worship… that’s why in Romans 12:1, Paul writes,  “offer your bodies as a living sacrifice Holy and Acceptable to God, as an act of spiritual worship”.

I am not sure what is going on in your life this morning, every one of us have the fair share of the challenges and troubles – but remember, “The battle belongs to the Lord!”.   Before making any decision, today, ask this simple question, “Does this action take me to Mizpah?”  In other words, does this action honor the Lord, my God?  The moment we become conscious of His presence in every situation, our attitude changes,  and the restoration begins!  In the movie, war room, the old (praying) lady was about to get robbed, and he chases them away in the Name of the Lord… you know why?   She knows that she is not alone in the battle…

When we bow before the Lord, we can stand before anyone and anything!
