How thirsty are you today?

Dear Saints of the Living God… Grace and Mercy to you and your family…

There are so many amazing verses are in the bible but the one that talks powerfully about the Holy Spirit is found in John 7: 37 – 38,

“Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”

As the journey continues to meditate on the effects of the Holy Spirit in our life,  listen to what  Jesus is saying  – “If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink…”

One time, Evangelist Stuart Briscoe said, “God will meet man on the level of his desire, man can have as much of God as he wants”.

It was really hard for me to comprehend,  the source of how much we can have, is dependent on the person who is receiving than the person who is giving.   In other words, are we prepared to receive “this much” of Holy Spirit in us.   I also strongly believe, in this verse, Jesus is addressing the plea made by King David in the Psalms where he said,

“As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for You”;   In this verse, David is saying – I long for you, just like the deer pants for the water brooks… you know when the deer pants for the water brook?

Not only when it is thirsty, but also when the enemy chases them, it looks for the water brook, so that it can go and hide under the water, and the aroma of the deer will not be sensed by the predator.   That’s why Psalmist is saying, my soul pants for You… the quenching that he is looking for is out of desperation and the need for this Holy Spirit is what David is after…

Jesus is responding to the outcry of the psalmist saying, If anyone thirsts like David, let him come and drink my water…  and you will see what happens to them, when they drink of this water.

I often wonder, when it comes to Holy Spirit, are we earnestly seeking Him with the same thirst as King David?
________
Let us wrap our heads around what the offer is on the table, when we thirst for this water… the promise of the Lord is in the following verse, “Streams of living water will flow” (verse 38) and another translation says, “Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water”;

The researchers are saying the water that flows in to Atlantic Ocean comes in at the rate of 1.4 million gallons of water per second.   We can say – amazing – right? but if we try to find the root of this water, is actually starts from the “Amazon River” which originates from Andes Mountain in South America.

The water trickles down from the mountain and along the way, it picks up the speed and power to travel about 3,600 miles before it reaches Atlantic Ocean.  What am I saying, if the created river can have such power and life, to spread the wealth – how much more does the living water given by our Savior will hold?

Jesus is not talking about blessing here and blessing there… with small trickle… but a stream of water.   The Holy Spirit is like a mighty rushing stream of water, giving life to everyone who come near them.

In India, I have travelled down south from where I lived, and usually it is by train, and whenever I come around places like Tirunelveli, Trichy – there is a fresh green fields, for miles and miles together – and the reason is nothing but the streams of water that flows along the basin of these fields.   Even now, when we allow the Holy Spirit to flow through the basins of our life, that’s when we will see the prosperity of the Lord; the prosperity is not in the resources like large amounts of money or huge houses, but in His Presence…

It is exactly like the same vision the Lord gave prophet Ezekiel in the book of Ezekiel chapter  47 (verse 9), “Swarms of living creatures will live wherever the river flows.”;  There is life in fullness, wherever the water flows…

In the same chapter, verse 12 says, “Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.”

Where the water flows, the leaves don’t wither;  meaning – nothing in this world that is formed against us will prosper… the gates of hell cannot prevail.   their fruit will not fail – meaning we are certain of the destiny – no mater what the curve ball the enemy tries to throw, the end is, the assurance of the ball going over the fence for the home run.   You know why?   the water from the sanctuary of the Lord flows through them… the source of the water where it comes from is explained in Revelation by the John… it is from the throne room of heaven… that’s right – the river that flows in our life has origination just like Amazon river is where the waters originate for Atlantic Ocean…

Ours comes from the Throne room of heaven, that why, there is healing that comes from the leaves… thats why, there is forgiveness when we soak ourselves in this water… thats why – there is reconstruction of relationship that occurs when we understand the power of water that flows through our hearts…  thats why, there is fullness of life and peace that transcends all understanding when we drink of this cup every day.   I wonder, we really thirst for it?

It is my sincere prayer with all my heart that you and I will experience this awesome life giving power of the “Holy Spirit” in our life in our family and in our ministry.

May the good Lord bless you and fill your thirst and hunger today!

In Christ!
