If your heart is not settled, then Look for warning signs!

Dear Saints of the Living God – Grace and Mercy to you and your family!

There are few verses that we hear preachers quote quite a bit, and sometimes, we take them in silos, which might loose the context in which it was said.   Here is a beautiful verse, where we look only a portion of the verse…

2 Chronicles 16:9

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”

It is absolutely true, “The Lord” who created Heaven and Earth is going through back and forth throughout the entire earth, looking at each and every one of us… not just external “me”, but internally, who is committed or loyal to Him.  It doesn’t matter how big the mountain looks like – when the Lord pulls His strength behind it, those mountains becomes nothing but plains…
Let’s look at the context,  if we go one chapter behind (2 Chronicle 15), it is about a King named, Asa – he was a good king… when God commanded him to take courage, he took it by the word, and removed the idols, and built an altar for the Lord.  In fact, he stood up against his own mother, to remove obscene images and brought justice and righteousness.   And also, he brought the silver and gold, into the house of the Lord,.   And the Lord recognized his loyalty, and allowed the land to be at peace for 35 years… no war!

Everything was going well, and the success blinded King Asa’s discernment… and on the 36 years, he goes and makes a treaty with the Syria…

That’s where the above verse starts…

Warning 1: The Lord sends a prophet to warn the king… when we do things wrong, God is calling you and me to step out of the downward spiral, and sends warning signals everywhere – until we gets it… unfortunately in this case, King Asa didn’t turn to God, but instead he puts the prophet into the prison.

Warning 2:  Then God sends another warning by sending a disease, and he went to a physician but not God.    And dies as a result of his disobedience…

___________

When King Asa was loyal to the Lord, he fought a much bigger army… God blessed this man, for the commitment and sincerity he showed towards the Lord.

I had a chance to meet with a young man 2 days ago, and he was talking about his church and how his pastor is taking time and asking God for the purpose and direction for his church.   And what caught my attention was, when he said, they are coming as a church and  praying and seeking God for his leading… oh, wow – God is going to strengthen this church, because their loyalty toward HIM.

How loyal is your heart towards this Almighty God?   Are we Bold before men and not embarrassed by the heavenly father that we love and cherish…

It is not like King Asa did atrocious act like King David, but clearly stepped out of God’s boundary.  Even after repeated warnings, he never recovered from it.   Sometimes, even in our lives – we are so far into the weeds of the activities,  we may fail to find the difference between what is of earthly value vs. eternal.

In the end of it all, we have to question our actions to benchmark against the word of God – to know where our loyalty remains…

If your heart is not settled, then Look for warning signs!
