Dear Saints of Living God, Grace and Mercy to you and your family.
In this life, we constantly run into situations where we give room for the enemy to come and camp around and put a tent in the most important places of our life. If you are in the middle of one such battle, this meditation will be of encouragement. Often times, we beat ourselves with questions like, How do we get rid of this enemy from my life, or am I doing the things right? We kind of over-engineer the problem and doesn’t leave room for the grace to descend in our lives.
In Genesis 28, we read about Jacob, he has done some wrong things and running away from his brother Esau. There is guilt, shame and fear covering Jacob at this time. Right in the middle of the journey, God is initiating His grace through a dream. He assures Jacob that he is part of the covenant that God made with his grandfather – “Abraham” with these words…
The Lord stood above it and said: “I am the Lord God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants. 14 Also your descendants shall be as the dust of the earth; you shall spread abroad to the west and the east, to the north and the south; and in you and in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed. 15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you.”
Have you ever wondered, why God shows grace to Jacob, inspite of him doing wrong things to his brother? He is not the God who incentivizes a bad behavior… I battled with this verse. You know what changed Jacob’s life, verse 16… I believe, the key that turned Jacob into Israel is, when he recognized, that “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I didn’t know it”.
“This place” – doesn’t denote the physical location, but the moment in his life. The Lord of Israel never leaves us nor forsakes us… Jacob recognized that he didn’t even know, that he is part of God’s plan, and that the grace and mercy follows him…
Every time, we think about God, we see Him from our human revelation – and not from the heavenly perspective… I am not saying, we can continue to do wrong things and live an unfruitful life, but instead look at God from His perspective, and Paul writes In Hebrews 8:12, the Lord says, “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.” – He is a Merciful God! Whatever you are carrying on your back, leave them here, “In this place”.
We give room for strongholds, when we reject grace and become like a dart board for the enemy to take a shot at us, all we need to do is, recognize your position in the Lord.
I don’t know what healing that you are craving for this morning – but the Lord is saying, Turn around… “in this place”, the place where you are standing –is a holy ground. God is telling you, just like what He told Jacob – “I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you”… God has a calling in your life, you have a mission to accomplish… Bible says, we were in His mind, even before we were born.
Don’t give your peace away to this enemy… You are more than conqueror and your Father is still the King, sitting on the throne. Take back what is rightfully yours..
Be blessed on this beautiful day!
